UAE prohibits work under the scorching sun

Starting next week, companies in the United Arab Emirates will be barred from forcing employees to work at noon.

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization recalled that starting next week, a ban for companies to work at noon will come into force. The ban applies to the work of builders and other workers in the open. This is due to an increase in summer temperatures, which can reach 50 degrees Celsius by the middle of the day.

Companies are prohibited from forcing their employees to work from 12:00 to 15:00 between June 15 and September 15.

Working hours during the morning and evening for staff also cannot exceed a total of eight hours. Workers are entitled to additional remuneration if their working day exceeds eight hours within 24 hours, according to the law of the UAE.

Saudi Arabia has prepared a similar initiative for the summer.

June 15 is also expected to mark the beginning of Eid al-Fitr.
