Dubai entrepreneur launches prisoner relief fund

A businessman from Dubai came up with a new initiative to help prisoners who were detained due to non-payment of debts or alimony.

Entrepreneur Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtur, together with the Dubai police, has launched a new program to assist Dubai detainees in custody due to debt or the inability to pay child support for divorces.

The Reunion program is being created to reunite families who find themselves separated by a prison sentence, this program will provide financial assistance to pay off the debts of prisoners so that they can go free and provide for their family.

“Detention is not always the best solution,” said the head of Al Habtoor Group.

"The wife and children are waiting for the prisoner at home, he must support them."

As for child support, Al Habtur added that “a father who is in custody due to debt cannot help his family from prison in any way. He needs work so that he can earn money and fulfill his obligations.”

The head of the fund added that sometimes external circumstances lead to business failures, and financial difficulties do not allow paying debts.

“We need to learn from both our mistakes and successes. I sincerely believe in this. In the past I have failed several times in my business projects. That is what made me stronger and allowed me to succeed,” the entrepreneur emphasized.

Al Habtur explained that the business could be affected by the global financial crisis, the choice of the wrong partners, or the employment of unreliable employees.

It's unavoidable. As people, we must always see first of all the good in others. Past failures should teach people to always be careful, "added Mr. Al Habtur." Never do something for which you cannot be held accountable, do not borrow the amount that you can not give. In business, you need to take risks, but the risk must be conscious. "

Banks, he said, "should also take on part of the responsibility", not to re-lend and conduct a thorough examination of loan applications.

“I launch the Reunion initiative because I believe that people need to be given a second chance, as long as they are honestly and disciplined in doing business. For each case, decisions will be made separately,” the head of the fund added.
