Dubai will be fined for the illegal use of drones

In Dubai, new penalties have come into force for the use of unregistered drones for commercial purposes. The penalty for this misconduct can be up to $ 5.4 thousand.

The new set of rules related to the aviation sector and airspace in Dubai entered into force on Thursday after approval by Sheikh Hamdan bin Muhammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Board of Dubai.

Under the new rules, the use of unregistered drones for commercial activities will incur a fine of 2 to 20 thousand dirhams ($ 544 - $ 5.44 thousand).

The use of unregistered drones for other activities will result in a fine ranging from a thousand to 20 thousand dirhams ($ 272 - $ 5.44 thousand). The use of drones during public events without a letter of lack of objection by the authorities may result in a fine of 10 thousand dirhams ($ 27.2 thousand).

Under the new rules, anyone who wishes to operate in the Dubai aviation sector must obtain a DCAA license. Issued licenses are valid for a renewable period of one year. An application for renewal must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the expiration of the license.

A fine of 5 thousand dirhams ($ 1.36 thousand) will be levied on those who operate in the aviation sector without obtaining permission or consent from the authorities. This also applies to the launch of fireworks and laser shows, aerial photography and advertising, the launch of balloons and air lamps.

A fine of 30 thousand dirhams ($ 8.16 thousand) is foreseen for organizing an air show without permission; a fine of 10 thousand dirhams will be imposed for an event that could affect air navigation. For activities that could seriously threaten air navigation, a fine of 30 thousand dirhams will be imposed.
