Emirate of Abu Dhabi introduces new rules for taxi drivers

In order to reduce the number of accidents, Abu Dhabi taxi companies were instructed to install parking sensors / reverse sensors on cars, limit the duration of work shifts for drivers and more strictly monitor their compliance with speed limits.

The work shift time for a taxi driver is set by summing the travel time with the passenger, as soon as the total time of all such trips per day exceeds 8 hours, the taxi driver will have to stop working. The time will be monitored by a system integrated with a counter. If the driver exceeds the speed limit in the car, a warning signal will be issued, for repeated violation during one shift the driver will be fined by the company. If the driver even exceeds the limit once by 20 km / h, the meter stops immediately and the driver will have to come to the taxi fleet for explanations.

A taxi driver must be dismissed by the company if he exceeds the maximum permissible number of traffic violations. A taxi driver will be deprived of a driver’s license for driving to a red light, driving in a state of intoxication or drug intoxication, leaving a place of an accident and other gross violations of traffic rules.
