Abu Dhabi Police Offers Free Tire Checks

Abu Dhabi police reminded motorists of severe penalties for driving with worn tires and offered a free check.

Abu Dhabi police launched a social campaign in which they reminded motorists of a fine of 500 dirhams ($ US 136), four black marks and confiscation of the car for a week for driving with old tires that do not meet safety standards.

The Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrol Authority noted that between January and June 2019, two people were killed and more than ten injured in seven traffic accidents caused by a broken tire. During the same period, owners of 5.3 thousand cars were fined in Abu Dhabi for driving with tires unsuitable for use.

The police called on motorists to regularly inspect the tires of their cars and check the pressure in them.

"Any damage or cracks can lead to serious traffic accidents, serious injuries and even death," the Abu Dhabi police warned.

It is especially unsafe to neglect checking and replacing tires in the summer months when temperatures can reach almost 50 ° C.

Abu Dhabi police also offered free tire health checks until July 16 in collaboration with Al Masaood Tires. The offer is available at Adnoc stations in Corniche, Al Mushrif, Al Reem Islands, Mahwi, Al Samha and Khalifa City.
