Over 190 Ajman residents (UAE) poisoned by water

More than 190 residents of Ajman (UAE) were poisoned by tap water.

Dubai, UAE. 191 Ajman, a resident of the multi-story Horizon Towers complex in the emirate, sought medical attention at local hospitals with signs of poisoning. According to local police, the poisoning could have been caused by tap water contaminated with toxic chemicals.

Local residents said that last weekend tap water turned yellow and got an unpleasant odor. Those who consumed it soon showed signs of poisoning: vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. Most victims are reported to be children. The authorities said that tanks with water that could be contaminated were rinsed and sterilized after the incident.

All tenants who were unable to pay for treatment received free medical care at Khalifa Hospital. Currently, seven people remain in hospitals who have a high fever, the rest are discharged. Experts also took samples of tap water to conduct laboratory tests, the results of which will be known later this week.
