The ruler of Dubai paid the bills for the treatment of a foreign woman in distress

The ruler of Dubai decided to pay the bills for the treatment of an expat girl who was hospitalized with a serious injury.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, announced that he will cover the full cost of the treatment of Rebecca Chisholm from the UK.

On May 10, 2019, a 24-year-old girl riding horses with her mother in Dubai. As a result of the incident, she fell and received serious brain injuries.

The girl was taken to Rashid Hospital, where doctors urgently began treatment. According to the results of the initial study, Ms. Chisholm found multiple fractures of the skull and cerebral hemorrhage. The girl has already undergone two operations.

Rebecca Chisholm works as a teacher in Dubai. She has health insurance, but does not cover medical care in cases such as falling from a horse.

Rebecca's family and friends from the UK immediately began raising funds to pay treatment bills. They managed to collect over 279 thousand dirhams ($ US 76 thousand).

The decision of the ruler of Dubai to provide financial assistance to the family "deeply touched the hearts" of the Rebecca family. Relatives praised the care of the authorities of the Arab Emirates for foreigners. Sheikh Mohammed’s offer was reportedly perceived by the family as “the most generous gift they have ever received.”
