In the UAE there were radars for pedestrians

Pedestrian radars will be installed in busy areas of the UAE.

Dubai, UAE. Police in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE, have begun installing new radars for pedestrians in busy areas. At the first stage, the radars, called Hather ("look at both"), will be installed near schools.

It is expected that the new measure will reduce the number of accidents involving pedestrians. The police called on motorists to slow down the movement of vehicles at least 5 meters from a traffic sign depicting a school bus - to ensure the safety of students.

According to Abu Dhabi police, the radar is equipped with two cameras that scan the surroundings and alert pedestrians when it is safe to cross the road. If the driver doesn’t let the pedestrian pass, the camera will scan the number of the car and send the data to the police for a fine.
