Classification of occupations introduced in UAE

The United Arab Emirates Ministry has launched a new job classification system.

The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization has launched a new occupational classification system. The system is used to submit new applications for work permits.

The occupational classification system consists of 726 posts in nine occupational categories, including managerial positions, specialists and support staff. Each name refers to one of five levels of professional skills that determine whether the applicant should submit his diploma to apply or not. Each item in the list has a short description and its code.

The new system has been prepared in accordance with the international standard classification of posts.

Foreign citizens can apply for a work permit, be sure to indicate the name of the position, which is on the new list. Foreign citizens with a residence permit and holding positions that are not on the new list will not need to seek a renaming of the post to extend the employment contract.

Given that the old list consisted of more than 3 thousand posts, it is now more difficult for employers to choose a suitable position for employees that meets the duties of a foreign citizen. According to the new list, most posts require a diploma.
