Dubai will open the largest open-air museum

The Dubai administration has announced the opening of the largest open-air museum in the near future.

The Dubai Municipality, together with the Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing, as well as the Department of Culture and Art of Dubai, announced the launch of the largest cultural project in the heart of Al-Shindaga, one of the oldest districts of Dubai. As part of the project, the largest open-air museum will open for various exhibitions dedicated to the historical and cultural heritage of the city.

The Department of Architectural Heritage of the Municipality of Dubai held a seminar for students of various universities of the country on the theoretical aspects of museum business and the various stages of the opening of the national museum.

The seminar was organized as part of the participation of the Dubai Municipality in the International Museum Day, sponsored by the International Council of Museums in the UAE. A virtual project of the Sheikh Zayd Museum was presented at the seminar as part of the celebration of the centenary of the Sheikh’s birth this year.

According to Ahmed Mahmoud, head of the Department of Architectural Heritage, the seminar is in line with the Dubai 2021 strategic development plan aimed at creating a cultural environment and developing cultural and tourism projects for residents and guests of Dubai. The official added that one of the goals of the seminar is to prepare a generation that will have the necessary skills to open and manage new museums in the future.

“The seminar was held in coordination with the UAE University, Sheikh Zayed University, Sharjah University, American universities in Dubai and Sharjah. Students were dedicated to the basics of organizing museums, and the prospects for future cooperation were discussed at the event,” added Mahmoud.
