Dubai Health Department intends to develop health insurance programs

Dubai's Department of Health has a policy of promoting health insurance in line with the strategic vision for developing the UAE.

Dubai's Department of Health (DHA) has set the goal of stimulating health insurance programs to improve the quality of medical services and reduce the incidence rate in the emirate.

According to experts, more than 4.6 million people living in Dubai have various medical insurance policies, the proportion of the population refraining from insurance is extremely small.

Dr Khaidar Al Yusuf, DHA Funding Director, said Dubai is on the right track to becoming the best emirate in healthcare.

"The department’s policy is based on active, not reactive principles. It is important to identify the ailment and provide the necessary preventive measures before the disease. Do not wait until someone gets sick, examinations at an early stage can detect deviations and reduce the incidence rate."

On the eve of the Department of Health said that the main benefit of the policy of compulsory health insurance will now cover three types of cancer.

“All insured residents of Dubai will be eligible for screening and treatment for breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and cervical cancer as part of the Basmah Smile initiative,” said Al Yusuf, speaking at the presentation of the Dahab or Gold premium insurance package. Aafiya Insurance.

The doctor added that DHA, as part of its strategy for 2017-2018, will focus on launching new programs, such as premium Dahab services, which will ensure a high level of medical care in Dubai.

"This step is in accordance with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Ibn Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai, as it allows you to make the emirate a leader in healthcare."

Dr. Al Yusuf reminded everyone to check the validity of the policy and, if necessary, update it. It should be noted that for overdue medical insurance in the UAE provides a fine.

The official also emphasized that not one of the categories of health insurance provided by accredited companies in the emirate will be subject to VAT.
