Pavel Durov moved to the UAE and opened a new Telegram office in Dubai

The founder of the VKontakte social network and Telegram messenger moved to the UAE and opened a new office in Dubai.

Durov for a long time chose a new place to open an office for his last brainchild - the Telegram messenger. Pavel’s wanderings are connected with an attempt to get away from recruiters of special-purpose agencies, such as the FBI.

In the company of Durov, they did not disclose data on the location of the servers and prefer that the names of some employees remain unknown. The new Telegram office is located in Dubai on the 23rd floor of the Dubai Media City skyscraper.

The choice of the head of the company fell on Dubai not by accident: because in the UAE there is no tax on business income, with the exception of the banking sector and the oil industry, so the entrepreneur can pay "zero taxes".

As Durov himself states, the tax issue is crucial for him:

"A huge number of people in the West do not understand how much their taxes limit. Sometimes taxes take half of your income. In essence, this means that the government takes 180 working days a year from you. It seems to me that there are more suitable ways to spend your money money for the good of society. "

However, Durov may note in the United Arab Emirates not only the absence of taxes. In a recent interview, the businessman noted the UAE's social and religious conservatism.

"If I was gay, drank alcohol or ate pork, then, of course, in the UAE it would have been much harder for me," said the creator of Telegram.

Let me remind you that after selling his share of VKontakte, Pavel Durov created a Telegram messenger in which messages are transmitted in encrypted form, and people may not know the phone number of their interlocutor. To start a chat, just enter the username in the search. However, due to the possibility of conducting secret conversations, sharing various information in a chat, the messenger has become a tool in the hands of terrorists. At the moment, the Telegram development team is working on a function that will allow us to exclude extremist content. However, access to confidential information in encrypted chats will still be closed.
