Dubai recognized as the most expensive city in the world in terms of cost of services

Dubai is the most expensive city in the world in terms of cost of services, both essential and additional, showed the results of a study by the investment bank UBS.

A study called Price and Earnings 2009 (“Prices and Earnings 2009”) compared the cost of acquiring a “consumer basket” of 27 basic and additional services, including a haircut, pay for telephone calls, laundry services, movie tickets, and eating out at 73- x cities of the world.

Dubai was on the first line of the ranking of 73 cities, ahead of London and New York: the cost of a “basket” in Dubai is US $ 890, while the world average does not exceed US $ 503. In the overall ranking of the most expensive cities in the world, Dubai took 19th place. The first three world leaders in terms of the high cost of living according to UBS were Oslo, Zurich and Copenhagen.

The study also showed that residents of Dubai work much more than residents of many other countries. If the world average of the number of hours worked per year was 1.902 hours, then the Dubai people work 2.210 hours a year. At the same time, labor in Dubai is paid much more modestly than, for example, in Zurich: US $ 10.10 per hour versus US $ 22.
