The occupancy of the new Fairmont Hotel in Abu Dhabi will be 65% in 2011

The management of Fairmont Bab Al Bahr, the first hotel in the Fairmont Hotels & Resorts chain in Abu Dhabi, expects its average occupancy rate to be at least 65% in 2011.

"In 2010, the occupancy rate of our hotel was 55%. In 2011, according to our forecasts, this figure should reach at least 65%," said Henning Fries, general manager of Fairmont Bab Al Bahr. - "Our hotel belongs to the category of large and therefore, given the overabundance of hotel rooms in the capital of the UAE, 65% is a fairly reasonable and not overstated indicator." Fries also believes that, despite the vast "influx" of new hotels into the local market, Fairmont will nevertheless make a profit during its first year of operation. “Of course, if the hotel was opened two years earlier and under different market conditions, we would talk about completely different numbers,” Fryce added, “however today we are where we are, therefore, while maintaining the occupancy level or increasing it slightly and, taking into account the profit brought by our restaurants, we hope for positive indicators already during the first year of work.
