Boldin Autumn in the Emirates

On November 5, 2011, the Russian Woman’s Association, with the support of the Russian Embassy in the UAE, invited children and their parents to the Boldinskaya Osen literary holiday, dedicated to the work of the great Russian poet Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin. The venue for the event was the music school “Elite Music Institute” in Abu Dhabi.

The hall was beautifully decorated with autumn maple leaves. Reproductions of the works of the famous illustrator I. Ya. Bilibin created an atmosphere inherent in the fairy tales of A. Pushkin. The guests were pleased with the exhibition of children's drawings. The Boldinsky Autumn festival began with a concert that was opened by the head of the Russian children's group in Abu Dhabi, Olga Binland, who spoke about the poet’s life and work. Young participants in the concert performed poems and excerpts from Pushkin's fairy tales.

In the second part of the holiday, the guys who came from Dubai showed a real puppet show "The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish", giving all the audience a lot of positive emotions. A pleasant surprise was the improvisation of several guests who read their favorite verses of the classic of Russian literature.

In conclusion, a quiz "Tales of Pushkin" was held, its winners were awarded beautifully published books. All the guys who came for the holiday received sweet gifts from the Russian Women’s Union. Toward the close, a festive tea party took place, during which guests were able to try real Russian homemade cakes.
